Format: Hardcover, 342 pages

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

Masterfully crafted! A story that will leave you breathless and wanting for more. An EPIC READ indeed! Literally UNPUTDOWNABLE!
This is one of the most anticipated releases for 2011 and oh boy I can attest to the fact that this is one book you should not dare to miss! The story of Juliette, a girl who has not touched a single soul for 264days and considered herself a monster has been freakishly awesome. Some may say that this is just like the story of Rogue from X-Men but I tell you not to be fooled by this assumption. Shatter Me has offered me a new kind of experience that I haven’t experience in any kind of book. This is one of the few books that left me hanging, in a good way I mean not the spoilery type. I cannot describe more how this book left me at awe for days. The story was delivered with great authenticity, it was just plainly AMAZING.
The characters are mainly fantastic crafted into perfection. Juliette as the protagonist is very tough and I really admire tough woman characters. At first I thought of Juliette as the damsel in distress type of character, the one tormented with the guilt feeling of a murder that was blame to her. But when the very luscious dreamy Alex came into the picture she learn how to fight which I think is the best comeback of them all. Alex is one fictional character that is totally SWOON WORTHY! I totally want to cry after his confession with Juliette, I don’t want to spoil but it’s very touchy. I think of Alex as the knight in shining armor, he’s tough and at the same time very admirable cause he’ll do everything to protect Juliette. Warner is the antagonist of the story, for a while I really liked him and I think up to know I really do. I compare Warner to Chuck Bass, I don’t know if you guys watch Gossip Girls but I really think that Warner is the type of guy who just needs love. His parent doesn’t care much of him so he wanted to be with Juliette. Over all the characters are just beautifully crafted in this epic story.
The cover of Shatter Me is just what you call beautiful! Though when it was revealed some people were disappointed for some reason, I say the opposite because it’s really amazing. I like the tagline MY TOUCH IS LETHAL MY TOUCH IS POWER; it just shows a great part of the book on how Juliette thinks about her gift. Also the title which was cut into half is a great giveaway, though I must say there were no slicing part in the book. I also find the cover model similar to the model of Shut Out by Kody Keplinger.
Overall this is a MUST READ and a MUST BUY book for 2011. I say do not dare leave the year 2011 until you have read this wonderfully written story. I recommend this book for dystopian fanatics who are asking for a pinch of diversity from the usual dystopian novel. Tahereh Mafi created a world that flows through out every page, every page turn is a must read, I didn’t find any dull moments for this book. I love love love it!
